I just wanted to drop everyone an update of some of our newer services and products now being offered at the Maryland Cosmetic Laser Institute.
The MediDerm Laser is a dry peel laser that is stronger than the Power Peel microdermabrasion, but not as invasive as the CO2 laser skin resurfacing. We’ve seen great results especially on patients with oily skin and large pores. It also helps to smooth lines and texture.
Medicis, the manufacturer of the popular Restylane dermal filler, has received FDA approval for Perlane. It consists of non-animal, stabilized hyaluronic acid, the same as Restylane. However, it is made up of a larger gel particle giving those deeper folds more volume using less product. If additional product is needed, the Restylane is the natural, smaller gel particle that is used closer to the surface of the skin. The Perlane should last somewhat longer than the Restylane. Please see me to determine which Medicis product you will benefit from the most.
We are now carrying three new topical products. VIVITÉ is a skin care line by Allergan, the manufacturer of Botox Cosmetic. It consists of botanicals and buffered glycolic acid (GLX technology). The VIVITÉ line is perfect for skin types not requiring a skin lightener or those who cannot tolerate Tretinoin acid (Retin-A). Personally, I found it to be a wonderful addition for when I am on my “rest protocol” from the Obagi System.
If anyone is troubled by unsightly surgical or injury scars that are red and/or keloid, you must try ScarFade topical gel. I have seen this work on a patient’s old surgical scars when nothing else seemed to help. Within six weeks they were greatly improved, and by twelve weeks they were gone! Naturally, as with any product, individual results may vary.
